Biography

Vanti Designs is a luxury brand of naturally dyed eco-print silk scarves designed by Marina Georgiadis. Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Marina lived in Athens, Greece for many years where she received her training as a silversmith alongside European master goldsmiths. In 2009 she founded Vanti Designs. Later she settled in Vancouver, BC and inspired by the natural beauty of the Canadian West Coast she began exploring the ancient art of dyeing with natural dyes and plants and a process called eco-printing. Marina uses natural fibres and leaves to capture nature’s beauty and create one of kind luxurious scarves with patterns and colors that are part of a dialogue with nature. Eco-printing process: Eco-print techniques focus on the use of sustainable, organic and non- toxic materials. No external dyes, inks or paint are used in eco-printing. These eco-printed scarves are created by layering the silk fabric with leaves and flowers. The scarf and leaves are bundled together, tightly bound and steamed or boiled. This process creates a permanent transfer of pigment from the leaves to the fabric. All colors and patterns come from the plants themselves.
