Janet Rice-Bredin has exhibited her quilted art in numerous juried shows across Canada and the US, with several top awards. Lately she has concentrated on knitting, weaving, embroidery and mixed media fibre art collage.

Biography

For decades, Janet was immersed in international quilting as an art quilter, exhibitor, workshop instructor, author, show judge, key note speaker, pattern designer and as the co-ordinator of a Professional Development Conference for the business of quilting at York University in 2000. She represented Northwestern Ontario on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Crafts Council for two years, as well as serving on various committees and executives both in fibre arts and horticulture. Janet majored in Art History at Queen’s University, and came close to completing a BFA at Lakehead University before moving away from Thunder Bay. Her artwork is in a number of government and private collections and she has exhibited in two solo shows at art galleries in Northern Ontario. These days she is trying to decide what she wants to do when she grows up. This may involve her current interests in acrylic painting, mixed media collage, and finding stuff on the shoreline to play with.
