Biography
Emma Paveley is an oil painter living in the coastal town of Ucluelet BC. Her work is inspired by the ocean, waves, surf and the beauty of the natural world that surrounds her Drawn to water from an early age, Emma spent much of her life landlocked, dreaming of the sea. That longing eventually led her west, where she found her home on the edge of the Pacific. Surfing, storms, the ever-changing light, and the dramatic coastal landscape shape her artistic practice. Emma first discovered oil painting at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, but set it aside for many years. She returned to the medium after inheriting her late grandmother’s brushes and art supplies. Today, when not in the studio, Emma can often be found in the surf, wandering the coastline with her camera, or exploring the wild terrain of Ucluelet and nearby Tofino with her dogs—always seeking the next wave, or moment of inspiration.
