Introducing “Forest Bathing” at the McMillan Arts Centre.   

Join us for a captivating joint exhibition, “Forest Bathing,” at the McMillan Arts Centre in Parksville, running from May 27th to June 29th. The opening reception will take place on  May 31st from 1:00-3:00 pm.

This exhibition brings together three distinct painting styles by April Lacheur, Helen Utsal, and Kelly Corbett, each oQering a unique artistic interpretation of trees and the vibrant forest ecosystem of Vancouver Island.

 

Artistic Styles and Inspirations

• April Lacheur:

April’s work is characterized by flowing lines and exposed tree roots,

emphasizing the interconnectedness of humans and nature. Her artistic approach

is both delicate and spirited, reflecting her unique perspective on trees.

• Helen Utsal:

Helen’s paintings are distinguished by their use of color, energy, and

light. She often captures the majestic mossy maple trees of Vancouver Island,

imbuing her work with vibrant hues, including a signature fluorescent pink.

• Kelly Corbett:

Kelly’s realistic style often evokes a sense of presence, transporting

viewers to the scene. Kelly’s paintings feature inspiring views, interesting

composition and a sense of light that creates lifelike and compelling landscapes.
