Inner Joy

Inner Joy was inspired by colours my daughter, Aly, chose during one of our phone calls. She imagined a soft, cotton-candy sunset filled with pinks, blues, purples, and warmth.

As I painted, I found myself reflecting on our relationship and how much joy can exist in the bond between a mother and daughter — from memories of her as a little girl to the adventures we've shared travelling together as adults.

One of my favourite memories is sitting together on swings at a small outdoor restaurant in Mexico, laughing in the sunshine. Later, while looking through old photographs, I realized that the colours I was wearing in that moment closely matched the palette she had chosen for this piece.

Inner Joy became a reflection of love, growth, connection, and the quiet happiness found in shared moments together. It reminds me that joy often lives in the simplest memories, and that the connections we nurture throughout our lives continue to bring warmth and meaning long after those moments have passed.
