The History of First Nations Land in British Columbia

We will look at the the way that newcomers have treated First Nations people over their land from early contact to the present. We will learn about land lost and sometimes regained. It is important to understand this issue because this history still lives with us today. This course will explain how we got to where we are.

Six classes: Wednesday 13 March to Wednesday 17 April, 10:00am – fee $60.

Course fees are by course and payable at the door at the first class.

Instructor: Robin Fisher

Robin has taught British Columbia history in several universities and is the author of a number of books on the subject. His most recent book was the winner of the 2023 Lieutenant Governor’s medal for the best book on British Columbia history. He has taught for Elder College for several years and is the Chair of the Program Committee.
