Gifts of Recovery - Recovery Narratives through Art
- Sep 28, 2022 from 12:00pm to 6:00pm PDT
- Location: The Bayside Oceanfront Resort
- Description:
Millions of people in Canada have successfully resolved a problem with substances, but we
rarely see or hear their stories compared to the stereotypes of addiction in media and film.
This exhibit visually illustrates the powerful narratives/accounts of those who have and are
rebuilding their lives: reconnecting with their families, finding work and stable housing, and
developing meaningful relationships with partners, peers, and others who offer support.
Also featured are the perspectives of recovery partners, treatment providers, and harm
reduction service providers who offer practical support and connection for those feeling
overwhelmed and isolated.
Recovery is rarely a solo journey, and it sometimes involves setbacks and hurdles, but the more
we talk about it, share ideas, and embrace different paths, the more people will find their way.
‘Gifts of Recovery’ will be on display September 27th from 4 to 8 pm, and September 28th from
noon to 6 pm, 2022. - Created by: Events OCAC

Art Foundations-Untangle with ‘Tangling’: Zentangle with Rhonda Roy
Sep 26, 2022 10am -3pm
Using The Zentangle Method, this class will explore using elemental strokes and simple materials to create non-representational structured patterns that weave into a small completed 3.5” work of art. Areas of focus will be the importance of the ‘process not outcome’ aspect of Zentangle, the mindfulness element (sometimes called ‘yoga for your brain’), incorporating into your own art practice, including warm-ups, block-breakers, and Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA).
All materials included for this class.
Cost: $100
About the Instructor: Rhonda Roy is a Zentangle artist and Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT). She discovered Zentangle in 2015, became a CZT in April 2016 and has been teaching Zentangle classes and creating Zentangle Inspired Art since then. Rhonda believes we are all born with a need and an ability to create, and that Zentangle is a great way to awaken that creative side in us all.
